I am a Registered Professional Counsellor (RPC) and Certified Child and Youth Care Professional (CYC-P) with more than 28 years of experience supporting vulnerable children, youth, and their families.  I work from a strength-based, trauma informed perspective; using activity and a focus on nature to engage and support others in Finding their Path to healing and wellness.

Throughout of my career, I have worked in a wide variety of settings - from my early career years in group homes, to community based and in-home family support, school classrooms and adolescent day treatment programs, adolescent forensic and mental health assessment and treatment settings, as well as community mental health and office based counselling.  From these years of diverse experience, I have gained a comprehensive understanding of mental health; the impact of trauma as it relates to behaviour, coping, development, and relationships; child development; family systems; as well as developmental disabilities and special needs.

 

Over the years, I have been so inspired by the strength and resiliency of so many children, youth, and families I have met.  Whether struggling through trauma, coping with physical or mental illness, or living with diverse abilities, it has always been my experience that engaging through activitiy and spending time outdoors is what helped them most.  In fact, in September 2019, I experienced my own healing through completing a one-day 40km hike in  Manning Park to raise much needed funds for the BC and Yukon Make a Wish Foundation.   It was such an incredibly meaningful and emotional experience, and I have never forgotten the impact of that acheivement and how much that time spent in nature meant for my own mental wellness.  It is actually what inspired the name for 'Finding My Path' as well as the logo picture for my program! 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

In the summer of 2020, my husband and I moved our family to Quesnel, and we are very happy to be raising our children up here in the Cariboo.  We enjoy the beauty in each season and love what nature and this area have to offer.
