Presentations and Publications

After many years of meaningful frontline experience, I began to seek more opportunities in teaching and mentoring as well as in community and program development.  From 2015-2016, I helped to lead and support a Collaborative Practice Team at the Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre through a comprehensive evaluation of service delivery.  This evaluation involved a significant shift in an area of program delivery by incorporating the principles of a trauma informed approach into practice as well as utilizing a qualitative research approach to ensure the shift created was evidence-based.

My work and research, Creating Evidence Based Change Through a Trauma Informed Lens: Translating Principles into Practice, has been published in the International Journal of Child, Youth and Family Studies (DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.18357/ijcyfs91201818119).

Furthermore, I have had the opportunity to present this work at the 33rd International FICE/2nd World CYC Conference in Vienna in 2016, the Child and Youth Care in Action: Embracing Challenge Conference at the University of Victoria in 2017, and the Child & Youth Care Association of BC's Transitions and Transformations: Influencing Change Through Relational Practice Conference in 2018.
